Pros

The internal wiki is excellent, serving as the golden standard for knowledge transfer.

A lot of managers were knowledgeable and efficient, many being ex-Blackberry people.

They utilize modern technology and concepts.

Potentially, this provides some wiggle room for innovative approaches to development, though it depends on the project and manager.

The environment is comfortable, with lots of cubicle space, multiple desks, and free parking.

The free hot chocolate was top-notch.

Cons

Company is run by marketing people, not by engineers. All problems listed below stem from this.

In places, the development pipeline is needlessly overcomplicated. This makes it easier for a few people, but makes things harder for the common developer.

Limited product range, susceptible to market fluctuations. When the economy slows down, people don't buy overpriced trucks, and thousands lose their jobs.

Too many layoffs in Canada, with preference to hire foreigners to cut costs.

Advice to Management

Fewer golden parachutes for incompetent management and fewer layoffs, please.
