Confusing interview process
Because of a series of misunderstandings and mails, I had to lose an interview opportunity with GEICO. They want us to complete an assessment owned by a third party to proceed to the next level of the interview. They mentioned in their first mail that the link expires within 48 hours after I receive it.
I was asked for a date of my availability to take my test “over the next week” on a Monday. I chose a date in the following week that suited me (I said any day after next Monday) as I had some other commitments.
The link was sent to me on the same day. Unfortunately, my email was misleading to them. "Following week" in my mail meant for them the same week from the day I sent the mail. Also, they sent instructions regarding the assessment. It was said in the mail that I can take the test over the weekend.
I was somewhat relieved that though they haven’t considered my availability, I have time to take the test, as I can take it over the weekend (as per their second mail). However, the test link expired. After talking to a recruiter, I came to know that the link expires within 48 hours after I start the test (I had not really started the test, I only created the profile), not from the day I receive the link. Though I could delay taking the test (it was not clear in their previous mail), now they can’t reconsider my application. I can’t apply for that position/take the test for the next 6 months as well.
I failed the assessment and interview process before taking it!!
The testing website gives you a session ID to access it at any time. I think it would be a good idea to let the tester know the ID expires within a certain time period to avoid possible confusions.
