Scheduled the same day I had a call with the recruiter to talk to the manager and another Sr. engineer. (Flag 1: recruiter hated life and mentioned recent RTO directive; flag 2: desperate to have the interview with the team the same day).
Had an interview with a Sr. staff engineer and no manager. The job description was a complete misrepresentation, and I was told, “We are just looking for infra builders,” which I have done for years but assumed this was staff-level architecture. Nope, and flag 3: I asked who is on this team and was told, “Just this one engineer, as 2 other members are no longer excellent elsewhere.” Lol.
Mass exodus due to RTO, horrible environment, or all of the above? Dunno.
