Pros

Teams are close with each other. When you’re behind, your team is willing to help. Salary and benefits are good. When in an emergency, the company is lenient on people going away for emergencies.

Cons

There is overtime, on top of the normal hours.

Be expected to work most weekends and to be on an on-call schedule. Deadlines are tight, and many associates are too busy to reach out in an ample amount of time.

Anyone who is a manager and above should have common sense of certain projects being done on time, as well as a work/home life balance.

The job position is more than just the general description of the job.

For the mandatory knowledge of programming languages, the software being used is a low-code system. There shouldn’t be a need to be an expert in programming languages if the position is just a general engineer. That is what software developers are for.

Advice to Management

Give an overtime benefit to employees. For on-call schedules, stop giving certain employees the benefit of being on the schedule due to them being too “busy”.
