Cons: Heavy workload for a person to cover many projects at a fast pace. More engineers tend to talk and avoid the real technical work. The talkers have high visibility and quick promotion. The discipline teams lose technical people very fast.

Pros: Paycheck cleared every two weeks.

Cons: Long hours, lower than average pay, politics.

Pros: Straight overtime for salary folk on the production floor. Never bored. Plenty of learning opportunities to show how not to organize or manage a production environment.

Cons: Long days (12+ hrs) plus weekends will be spent in the shop. You will not see the sun in winter. Management effectiveness is measured in decibels. No hint of an opportunity to grow or diversify. You are measured on several metrics that are directly contradictory, ensuring you will fail in some way every time. Upon failure, you will be publicly ridiculed on your appearance, personality, gender, and maybe (in part) about the actual failure to perform to the above metrics. No instruction, coaching, or advice in how to improve.
