Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Chicago, Illinois

Process

Recruiter contacted me for a fullstack developer position in GE Transportation, Chicago/Atlanta. The first round was a coding test. As I applied for a fullstack developer role, I had to write two coding tests: one in Java and another in JavaScript. Each test had two questions and 60 minutes to complete. The Java test was easy (it took some time to understand the questions and corner cases), but the JavaScript was a bit tricky. I was called for an onsite interview after 7 weeks to Chicago. It seems I scored low in JavaScript.

There were two rounds of face-to-face interviews: one with an Architect and the other with a senior person in the team. Both interviews were easy, with all basic questions in Java, SQL, JavaScript, and a little bit of Unix.

After two days, I was told I was not selected. I don't know the reason. There was no feedback, but overall, it was a pleasant experience. The recruiter was very helpful in every step of the process.
