Pros

Starting salary is good. The pension for older employees (which is no longer offered to new hires), starting vacation time and vacation growth, freedom to come and go as you please as long as your work gets done, and the freedom to take time off whenever you feel like.

Cons

Salary grows at a snail's pace. Management does not know you exist. Promotions don't appear to be given out on a performance basis, but instead by nepotism. Long hours, little reward. Subjective performance evaluation system. Senior management consistently makes decisions that aren't transparent to anyone below them. Constantly having to do useless HR activities. Constantly have to take useless online training. Constantly forced to do activities that reduce your productivity. Engineering is done by a large committee (everyone feels they should be involved regardless of how small the GE project is).

Advice to Management

Be more transparent, know when people are going above and beyond for you and compensate them accordingly, and promote based on performance.
