Some co-workers were friendly. The pay was pretty good for how little I worked. I made a lot of friends with other co-ops, and my assignment leader was nice.
I barely had anything to do. I'm honestly not even sure why my division wanted a co-op, because I had almost nothing to do for half the co-op.
I asked for more work, which I got, but it was boring and did not teach me anything. I do not feel like I gained any valuable engineering skills from this co-op.
HR was horrible to me as well and accused me of lying when I brought forth problems with my co-op experience. GE is a very Type B company; everything takes forever to get done, and no one seems to actually work for the full eight hours every day. Some of my coworkers were very disrespectful to me and to each other (lots of cursing, yelling).
I'm glad I never have to come back here again. I have many co-op friends, and less than half actually like their assignment and think being here is worthwhile.
Make sure each co-op is actually doing something important.
Tell me about yourself, and several technical questions related to my major and projects. They peppered me with specifics, but were extremely professional about it. The interview took around 20 minutes.
The interview consisted of 5 behavioral questions (tell me a time when...). It is clear when you walk in the door whether you are being seriously considered as a candidate.
The interview process went very smoothly. I was asked some basic questions at first and introduced myself. I was then asked some situational type questions. The interview was around an hour long.
