There is a large amount of bureaucracy since it is a large corporation. Things that should take days to complete can sometimes last weeks or even months depending on the people you have to work with.
Purge the senior people that are stuck in the mentality of doing things the way they were done two decades ago. If they won't change for the better, do not allow them to slow down progress.
