Pros

They try harder than most companies to place employees elsewhere in the company during layoffs and take interest in rehiring laid-off employees first.

Cons

No longer filled with brilliant technical staff, like it was five years ago.

What I especially do not like is they engage in unconstitutional hiring practices. They sign contracts with recruiters that prevent them from recruiting any GE employee, no matter how long the employee has been there, even if the recruiter has never worked with said employee.

Product managers and technical product managers have limited leadership skills. In many companies, that may not be terrible, but at GE, they are put in a position where it causes all sorts of problems.

Advice to Management

Work on the leadership skills of TPMS and Product Owners.
