Applied online at the start of September. The position link turned grey in my candidate profile, so I thought they had hired someone. Around 1-2 weeks later, the status in my profile changed from "review" to "screen." I thought my resume might have gone to the hiring manager for selection. There was no update for around 1-2 more weeks. I had no contact from HR.
Prior to the last week of September, I received a HireVue virtual interview request from GM. The position link turned blue again in my profile, and the job was posted again the same day. Still no contact from HR. I completed the HireVue interview the next day. There were 4 questions, 3 minutes each, and 1 retry. I did not know much about HireVue and got nervous for the first two questions. I could have done better.
1-2 days later, HR from Michigan contacted me, finally asking why I was interested in the job, about relocation, work authorization, etc. HR said she would forward my details to the hiring manager next week and that I should expect an update from her either way.
The position link turned grey and then blue and was posted again as a new job 1-2 days later. I got no update from HR. I tried calling her on the third day but got no answer.
I tried calling her on the fifth day and got no answer. She tried calling back, but I was driving. I tried calling back again after 1 hour. There was no response again. I thought I would try to contact her next week.
I got a rejection email on the weekend. It would have been nice to get some personal feedback. Other than that, it was a neutral experience.
The position link going grey, then blue, and then getting reposted multiple times over the whole period is confusing. Is the position canceled? Did they hire someone else? Or do they not know how to use their own system?
How would you get alignment from other workers at the Oshawa plant?
Difficult coworkers, management type. Star question.
