Pros: Great salary, benefits (especially the relocation benefit), brand new building, and total IT restructuring so great equipment and environment.
Casual dress on most days (jeans and a collared shirt, for example).
Young to middle-aged co-workers, great to work with.
Cons: A little disorganized with new building and ongoing construction (4th floor still under construction).
Very locked-down IT network. Forget remote desktoping to your home PC or SSH'ing into a remote server, etc.

GM IT Austin innovation: a great mistake

Pros: Good benefits, like any other big corporation. Two weeks holiday in December and hours of no work, while still getting paid. Way to go, GM!!
Cons: Unethical management from the bosses to HR, except if you are an ex-Dell employee. I would not recommend a young professional start their career here, as it lacks direction in everything, including the training. There is no room for growth, especially if you have a Master's degree. Bad management exists in everything, including IT projects undertaken. Choose wisely; do not be swayed by the 6-month salary review – it is a lie, and promised training is a joke, especially if management does not want you to follow standards.

Pros: - Good place to learn to become a software developer

Cons: - Lots of old, undesirable systems to work on.
- A good place if you're at the beginning or end of your career, but not the middle.
