Their salary is OK, but not competitive in the market.
As of May 2019, all the software engineers and developers have to take production support 24 hours, and that pissed off lots of developers. Lots of them already quit.
No growth. I have been working as a senior software engineer for 4 years and did not see anybody promoted within.
They do not offer free coffee. You have to bring your own or pay them $80 for 6 months.
Their cafeteria food is very expensive, i.e., $12 for a burger alone.
Every year, you have to achieve 70% of your bonus, otherwise you will land in a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). No second chance is available if you land in PIP again.
I know lots of good developers being forced to quit because of PIP. Your manager has to like you to avoid PIP. Too much favoritism is involved.
ZERO work from home or flexibility is available. You must be in the office.
They laid off 40% of the workforce in February (search the GM news). They had been boasting about layoffs since October, which led many GM employees to quit in fear of layoffs.
One month after the massive layoff, they are massively hiring, and I see 40+ positions opening.
If you are on a project for over a year and decide to change managers/projects, it's super hectic to get approval from your current manager.
Absolutely no work-life balance after they announced that everybody has to do 24/7 production support.
If you don't like your employee, please give them a second chance to work under a different manager.
First was an HR screening, and then a technical screening/interview. If I pass this one, then there will be more rounds, maybe around 3-4 look interviews, but I'm not sure.
I just got the screen call. All questions were kind of standard. There were some technical questions asked. The recruiter just took notes. I didn't end up with an offer, but the whole communication was going pretty well.
Applied through LinkedIn and received a text and call to schedule two interviews. One was a technical interview for one hour, and the other was a behavioral interview for one hour. Most of the questions were STAR questions.
