Pros

good healthcare and benefits, hybrid schedule

Cons
  • Micromanagement (you can't even use the bathroom without being questioned)
  • No more 'one team' -- it's everyone for themselves
  • No one helps each other anymore because everyone is afraid to lose their jobs
  • Very poor management (you ask for help but won't get a response for days, and then your manager wonders why your work isn't done)
  • Salary is not competitive at all (the salaries on here are at least 25% higher than what you actually get)
  • You can't even take your vacation in peace because you don't know if you'll get the 'layoff' email during your time off
  • If you're on maternity/paternity leave, you are considered a 'low' performer and have a higher chance to be laid off
  • GM is not diverse. It's a Metro Detroit-based company, but barely any African Americans work here. They hire based upon skillset and whoever will accept the bare minimum.
Advice to Management

Stop the competitiveness because people actually need these jobs and benefits. You're laying off and firing people, but you have the funds to build a new tech center in California? And Mary Barra has money to donate to women's basketball?

Overall, I don't even know if it's worth it to work here because of how toxic and taxing it is. I'm mentally drained from working here, but I suffer since I need the money.
