Pros

Great benefits. Cheap health insurance, 4% match and 4% automatic contribution to 401K. Total 8% from employer towards 401K. Even if you don't contribute, GM contributes 4%. Pretty unheard of at large, established companies.

Structured training for college hires. Great work-life balance and flexibility.

Cons

Onboarding can be a long process from the start date. It may be too long for someone who wants to hit the ground running immediately, but it is beneficial for someone who would prefer a slower, smooth transition. Once trained and placed on a team, opportunities for growth and responsibilities are at hand.

Advice to Management

Organization is purely vertical and could benefit from horizontal management within domains.

It could improve the communication and knowledge of the domain as a whole, where currently people are heads down on their own functions.
