Pros
  • Great work-life balance; you can choose to work as much as you like.
  • Open office and mostly great co-workers.
  • Great place to retire and enjoy life.
  • Great job security.
Cons
  • Dino tech stack, an old IBM tool that even IBM wouldn't use.
  • Poor management, all based on politics, not principles.
  • Managers are awful role models; they have no technical background and will screw over the whole team just to help themselves.
  • Not a good place for new grads or people who want to do real software.
  • Very hierarchical; experienced GM employees are threatened by new grads who actually understand software.
  • No career development; managers have no interest in helping you. Even if you are a great fit for a role, your manager can lobby you out of a switch. Switching teams can be impossible if your manager is selfish.
  • Cannot trust managers; they are dishonest, and reviews are based on how much they like you, not how hard you worked.
  • All the smart people leave over time and get better offers elsewhere, so you will not be learning from the best.
Advice to Management

Consider self-retrospective.
