Staff Engineer Interview Experience - Australia

Process

A recruiter reached out and asked if I'd be interested in a role. After a few back-and-forth emails, I sent a resume and was sent some questions to answer.

I answered the questions and a couple of days later received an offer to start the interview process.

I met with someone from HR over a Zoom call. The interview went well, and I proceeded to the next round. I was told they would get back to me in a week because people were on holidays – fair enough. After that, there was silence for more than two weeks. When they did get back to me, I was first offered an interview, then told they could not hire anyone in my country. Seems like a thing that should be sorted out before any interviews take place.
