To provide a brief background, I was already a contractor for a different team at GoDaddy, and my manager referred me for this position. Let me be very straightforward: GoDaddy teams do not care about referrals at all.
Honestly, if you don't satisfy even one of your interviewers, you are screwed. I hate that.
They are more about process. Nobody will listen to you if you get stuck on a technical interview question, for example, if someone asks you an SQL query and you get stuck. For them, that is a negative point, and you should expect a rejection, no matter if you pass all your other interviews or, in my case, even worked for them and did great work at GoDaddy.
To give a detailed background, I was interviewed by an Indian gentleman who did not have his live video configured properly. He asked me to tell him the query while he attempted to write it rather than me writing it on a code share. He was, frankly, not competent, and that blew me off because I could write it and correct myself if I failed. However, this interviewer was very confusing.
I know his name but do not want to publicly announce it. However, I am extremely annoyed by the way he handled the interview, and I know he is the sole reason I did not get the job. I challenge him to interview me again because the way he conducted the interview was totally unethical.
I respected GoDaddy as a company because I worked as a contractor, but this team is sure to doom if he remains there.
Beware if you are applying to this company. The policy is that if any of your interviewers dislikes you, you are definitely getting rejected. What a foolish policy! Not even our voting process operates like that, yet this company believes in this process.
Best of luck to whoever applies to this company.
Also, they don't even negotiate your salary. Hahahaha.
I learned from my sources at GoDaddy and thought, "I'm glad I didn't clear the interview." They were firm on the salary being between $85-90K. I'm glad my current company pays similarly, but honestly, if you are not offering me more than that, why would I join you?
Also, a stupid policy of filing a green card after one year? Go and look at big companies; they don't wait a year to file your GC; they do it instantly.
SQL queries where you have to iterate every line. To the dumbest interviewer, haha.
