Process
I secured an interview after meeting a representative at the career fair.
I had a technical interview, and the interviewer was very nice. Three weeks passed without any word, so I decided to email my recruiter. I did not receive a response for the next two weeks, despite emailing him about three times.
He didn't tell me whether I was rejected or accepted but instead asked if I wanted to pursue a completely different role across the country from what I originally applied for.
I accepted and asked to schedule an interview. Another two weeks passed with no response.
Overall, this has been a really frustrating experience, and the communication was absolutely horrible. I have read many reviews about GoDaddy, and they all seem to describe a very similar situation to mine.

Pros: Working at GoDaddy provides exposure to large-scale systems, modern technologies, and best coding practices.
The collaborative culture helps developers learn from talented peers.
The company offers flexible working options, stable career growth, and access to resources that enhance technical skills.
Cons: Decision-making processes can sometimes be slow due to multiple layers of approval. Certain teams may face legacy system challenges that limit innovation. Internal mobility opportunities could be improved, and workloads can get heavy during peak product release cycles. Some benefits may feel less competitive compared to top tech firms.

Smooth Culture, Realistic Expectations

Pros: I joined a few months back, and the atmosphere is pretty smooth. My interview journey was the biggest deciding factor to join GoDaddy. The expectations and timelines are pretty realistic. The overall attitude is oriented towards problem-solving and not throwing the ball around to different teams.
Cons: No relocation benefits or joining bonus.
Would appreciate the possibility of pet-friendly office premises.

Decent Work - Dwindling Job Security

Pros: 1. Remote work - offers a lot of flexibility in terms of getting the work done in your own time.
2. Mentorship and decent career growth available if you take the initiative to be engaged and ask questions.
3. The Affinity Groups are very nice community builders.
4. Good learning opportunities, access to learning platforms and courses.
Cons: 1. The team keeps getting filled with new offshore contractors (mainly from India) after pushing out full-time employees. This not only gets morale low (Am I the next one on the chopping block?) but also timezone differences make it very hard to collaborate with team members, reducing the quality of work experience.
2. There is a huge gap in knowledge sharing across the organization. It takes a lot of time to find information because not every team does responsible documentation.
3. Even though there's unlimited PTO, there's a subtle pressure to not take very many days off, at least in my team.
4. There is a communication gap between teams with not many people to bridge it, which makes it very hard to do cross-team collaboration.
