Software Engineer Interview Experience - Romania

Process

The two worst interview experiences of my life.

Firstly, they brought three engineers for this technical interview, which was a red flag from the start. Don't you have tickets to do? A maximum of two would be more than enough; more than two is useless and obviously a big red flag.

Afterwards, the first hiring manager said that this interview would have a discussion experience part, a coding one, and a system design one.

  1. Experience part: No questions were asked, and nothing was discussed on this subject. They were not interested in my experience.
  2. Surprise! Random, low-level Java questions that are most irrelevant to our field of work. If you know how ArrayLists and Sets work, you don't need to know the binary code for them.

To be more funny, I answered some questions correctly, like how Sets know which elements are duplicates, but they did not know the answer and kept asking the same question.

No system design interview in the end, as I clearly don't want to work with these kinds of people, and surely nobody would.

Horrible experience, the worst interview I've had in the last two years.

I strongly recommend not applying here and wasting your precious time.

Questions

Binary code Java questions.

Arrays, linked lists, and sets questions (they won't know much about these concepts, but they will ask).

Useless low-level questions.

Don't interview here! It's a waste of time.
