Software Engineer Co-Op Interview Experience

December 1, 2020
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process consisted of:

  • 1 online assessment with 2 coding questions (one LeetCode medium, one LeetCode hard)
  • 1 behavioral HireVue round (4-5 questions)
  • 1 final interview with 2 45-minute technical rounds

The final interview was a bad experience. All the questions were cybersecurity-focused. No one had informed me that they were hiring for the security team. The job description and their website indicated this would be a general software engineering co-op position. The questions were not super difficult, but the fact that they were all cybersecurity-focused caught me off guard.

Questions

Q. Difference between encoding, encryption, and hashing.

Q. OWASP Top 10.

Q. Explain in detail what happens when you use a web browser (e.g., type in a search query on Google).
