Good place to work, but limited opportunities for growth

Pros

Great culture. People are fairly easygoing and a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Goldman has solid pay, but pays less than a lot of peer firms. We often call it the "Goldman (or golden) haircut".

Marginal salary bumps are provided each year, even for top performers.

Expect an annual increase of 3-8% of your base salary if you are an above-average employee in non-revenue roles.

After you get promoted to VP, you are more or less on your own in terms of support. There is a huge gap to make the jump to MD, which can often take over 8 years after the VP promotion, depending on your overall work experience.
