Pros: Looks good on your resume. Free meals. Your parents will have heard of the company, even if they still don't understand exactly what you do for a living.

Cons: Disorganized management. Arrogance and complacency are rampant (think Microsoft in the 90's). You can't trust your co-workers. A collection of failed attempts to diversify, kept afloat by one cash cow (depressing to everyone not working on search). Most managers actively sabotage your efforts at working on a 20% project -- very frustrating.

Pros: - Smart people to work with (I mean, really smart) - Projects with big scale (up to billions of users) - Somewhat good perks

Cons: - I have never seen a normal and smart manager; they all have their limits or issues. - Sometimes you will work really hard, and nobody will care. You will have no return on your professional investment. - The promotion process is a real joke. The peer review process is not the one that matters. - Somewhat lower quality people compared to before; the new recruits are, in general, less smart. - Food is definitively going down big time, but this is still free, so you cannot complain too much, right? - Perks are going down; there were better perks before.

Pros: Provides good benefits and prestige.

Cons: Team switching got very difficult compared to previous years to ensure landing in a good team. Getting to a remote role is very difficult. If a team is not fully remote, communication issues arise.
