Initially, I talked with a recruiter about Google and my interests. After that, she set up a phone screen with an engineer.
The phone screener called on time and was easy to work with. He asked me a question and had me write code in a Google Doc. Once I completed it, he would refine the initial problem, and I needed to modify my code to solve the new problem.
My recruiter called me back a few days later and offered to arrange an on-site interview. I live in Seattle, and the on-site took place in Mountain View, so I needed a flight and a room, which Google handled for me.
The on-site consisted of five 45-minute interviews and a lunch period. I was asked relatively difficult questions and had to write code on the board. One interviewer clearly didn't want to be there and had a very condescending tone. Another also clearly didn't want to be there and barely spoke a few sentences aside from giving me the problem. All the other interviewers were fine.
