Software Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California

February 1, 2018
Negative ExperienceGot Offer

Process

One phone interview followed by five onsite interviews.

The interviewers were very nice and considerate. Unfortunately, this was the only positive aspect of the interview process.

I received an offer one month after the onsite interviews, but the compensation was horrible. I suspect Google's strategy is to lowball everyone unless they have a competing offer. The compensation team was unwilling to adjust anything when I asked for a raise.

The recruiter was extremely unprofessional and very slow in moving my application forward. It seemed they were overloaded with candidates.

The team matching progress was extremely slow, and the recruiter was reluctant to arrange any team matching.

It took around three months to finish everything, which was far too long. I declined the offer without hesitation after team matching.

Questions
