I had two phone interviews, and then went onsite for four rounds of whiteboard interviews. The entire process took more than two months.
All interviews were technical, covering programming questions, algorithm design, and complexity analysis. They also asked about my previous research experience and briefly discussed some details about new features in C++11.

Pros: The food is fine, and you are able to travel a lot if that is what you want.
Cons: Promotion is arbitrary, and the list of requirements is entirely distant from what you actually do. Whether you are already doing the work doesn't indicate if you will succeed at promotion, and any random thing can be used to keep you from advancing.
