Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

I was contacted by a recruiter who seemed very interested and was a bit pushy. I was not actively interested in switching jobs, but by the end of the call, she had talked me into scheduling a series of interviews.

She said that if I wasn't sure about switching once I got an offer, I could delay my start date by several months and think about it. She talked me into picking out time slots for several rounds of interviews and seemed to be following a "high-pressure sales" approach to convince me to schedule everything and commit to the whole process.

When the first interview came, it was a bit easier than she led me to expect, and I thought I did fairly well. However, since that point, I have not heard a thing from either the original recruiter or the other contacts I was given.

The dates of several other interviews have passed, even after she pressured me to clear my schedule and commit to attending them, with no updates or rescheduling.

While I wasn't necessarily expecting to make it all the way through the process, and made this clear to the recruiter, I think this is the most unprofessional rejection I have received. I'm not sure why a trillion-dollar company can't contact applicants (especially if it's someone like me who was cold-called and pressured into interviewing) before the date of the next scheduled interview, even if it is only to reject them.

I strongly recommend not wasting your time with Google, even if they are a trendy place to work.
