Software Engineer Interview Experience - Tokyo

Process

The recruiter contacted me, saying they wanted to employ someone with my background. They then let me prepare for 1-2 months on algorithms and data, focusing on very basic sorting algorithms. I then prepared and joined the call.

I initially thought the interview would be in English but it was in Japanese (my native language). Beyond a conversational coding interview, the interviewer asked how to optimize the code to make it scale better or run faster.

I received feedback stating that my understanding was all right, but my basic grammar (0-shifting and other issues) was not commendable.

Questions

Algorithm questions (merge sort), then how to optimize my solution further.
