Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

Good:

  • Majority of my interviewers were very nice and had thoughtful answers to my questions.
  • The recruiter was super responsive, perhaps too responsive. I received calls and emails from 9 AM to 9 PM, which doesn't seem like great work-life balance.

Meh:

  • They use an internal product for code interviews that's essentially a Google Doc with better indentation.
  • The behavioral interview felt awkward, as the interviewer was picking random questions from a list.

Bad:

  • The team matching process is a black box. The first few teams I spoke with didn't align with any of my stated preferences, and the process took a very long time.
  • Every single tech round involved a graph question.
  • They couldn't match my previous salary (coming from another FAANG company) and also attempted to downlevel me. This was followed by the comment, "You performed really well on your interviews," which was confusing.
