Process

Referred by an employee at MTV, HR called me soon after and scheduled two 45-minute online interviews. The HR representative was very nice. Because I was in Beijing and applying for an internship at MTV at the time, she scheduled the engineers from the Canada office to interview me to help me perform well. This was a great help, as the time zone of the Canada office was more convenient for me to take the interview.

The interviews went well, and the interviewers were nice and patient. The coding problems primarily focused on algorithms and data structures, and they also asked about some of my project experiences in detail.

I think the most challenging aspect of the interviews was describing my thought process in English to the interviewers. Good communication with interviewers is very important.

Questions

There were no particularly difficult questions. However, I did not expect the second interviewer to ask me a problem involving a segment tree.
