An external recruiter, in agreement with Google, approached me 1.5 months ago. She screened me preliminarily and, based on what I gathered was needed, considered my background suitable. She told me to expect the next interview with an internal recruiter SOON, and also to expect a link to complete a technical assessment and fill in some personal data.
I kept checking in for 1.5 months, every week, as nothing happened in the interim. My only replies were "childish excuses" from her.
Today, I received that "hated boilerplate message" stating that Google decided not to continue with my application, "blah, blah," even without experiencing a real interview. It was a very bad and poor experience. It seems Google is no longer a highly reputable nor an aspirational employer, if it ever was.
