Meh (hardware engineering contract review)

Hardware Engineer

Pros

The "google" branding / experience.

Amenities still accessible to contractors (i.e. free food, gym, etc.).

Cons
  • A big one: Uncompetitive pay (sub-Bay Area engineering average).
  • Feeling disposable.
  • 50+ hour work weeks.
  • Somehow, the overtime hours (thus overtime pay) and amenities were used by the recruiter to justify a low pay.
Advice to Management

Revamp your recruiting team and mission. The bad recruitment experience isn't just me. I personally know a handful of talented friends who basically swear off a job from Google until the recruitment experience improves. Plenty of talented recruiters, but there are a few bad apples spoiling the rest.
