Pros

Immediately write code that is used by billions of people every day---code that is run millions of times a second. It's a prestigious job that looks good on a resume and opens doors.

Cons

You can end up in a cog-in-the-machine sort of a situation where you don't feel like you're making a useful difference.

Advice to Management

New hires should be advised to take team placement seriously.

They should also transfer teams even if not performing exceptionally well.
