Pros

Well-known perks like free food, buses, new computers, etc. However, there are also better pros:

  • Google constantly tries to improve employees' skills, technical and otherwise. Of course, this is done entirely for the benefit of the company, but it is also useful for employees to build their resumes.
  • Internal tools and processes make it easy to get a lot of work done and feel productive.
  • In some ways, the organization isn't hierarchical in the sense that you can ping or email almost anyone related to your work and engage in useful conversation without feeling like a lesser employee.
  • Good weather in Mountain View, CA.
Cons

Google systematically undervalues new employees' contributions. The promotion process is skewed toward people that have been at the company the longest, rather than the highest performers. Many coworkers are too egotistical.

Advice to Management

Clear out some managers and higher-up employees who aren't bringing in as much value anymore.
