Overall, Google treats its employees really well. Compensation is good, benefits are great, and perks are great. There's a good outlook on the company's future between Cloud and AI.
Leadership caved to layoff pressure, then had to do massive reorgs because they didn't have enough headcount to hit their OKRs for some large products. Leadership didn't prioritize matching people to teams where their current skillset would be useful for the reorg. Slowly losing benefits. It doesn't feel like a people-first company anymore.
Do better. Performing layoffs and then starting to rehire just months later is a bad look. If you're going to reorg, at least put some effort into making sure that people will be suited to their new positions. The amount of productivity lost may really not be worth it.
