Pros

Very competent engineers who are willing to help out where needed.

My core team and org has been very pleasant to work with. Fellow engineers and frontline managers are very supportive.

Chances to work with impressive Machine Learning, optimization, and vehicle routing tech.

Excellent developer tooling within some orgs.

Cons

Lack of trust and transparency with senior leadership.

Fear of being directly blamed when something goes wrong.

Confusing and unpredictable performance review outcomes.

Cross-org planning and prioritization is difficult.

Advice to Management

Be more honest, foster better trust for leadership, and trust that you can delegate and people will deliver.

Engineers and frontline managers currently have to deal with whiplash decisions on product direction, performance review outcomes that don’t align with rubrics and expectations, and aggressive deadlines that are later dropped.
