Pros
  • Remote work
  • Some great teammates.
Cons
  • Unrealistic expectations.
  • Management members you'd rather stay far from.
  • Failure to carry the company along about the top reasons for various initiatives, e.g., saying a mere, "Our research shows that our users need X."
Advice to Management

Adjust your expectations. You routinely spend months debating projects and being indecisive, but then ask the engineering team to build it in two weeks, all while still adjusting the designs and requirements you gave.

Be kind to your employees in your words, the meetings you have, and how you work with them. It should be unheard of that people who were proposing ideas were getting shouted down.

Every time you did a layoff and said it was the last, it robbed you of credibility when you had to do it again.

Go back to or start being data-driven. There were too many projects/features that were because someone in management thought they would be cool. Most times when they did get implemented, they made little to zero impact.
