Process
I secured an on-campus interview after speaking with them at a career fair. A couple of weeks later, I was invited to the final round interview in their Chicago office.
Questions
The on-campus interview consisted of basic LeetCode questions on a whiteboard.
The interview at their office involved string manipulation and data parsing.
The interviewer, who was interviewing me, only knew JavaScript, so she did not understand some of the Java code that I had written. Explain your code well.

Grubhub Work Experiences
- 4.0Great technology stack and great colleaguesSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesOctober 28, 2015Pros: Cutting-edge technology stack, minimal bureaucracy, and great colleagues. Some of the benefits, like unlimited time off and learning Fridays, are really awesome.Cons: Your career path is not clear, and there's a lot of competition. Health benefits are middling. Unfortunately, the stock price isn't helping when it comes to competitive compensation.
- 3.0Smart people, but a bit closed-minded to new ideasSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeChicago, Illinois, United StatesNovember 11, 2016Pros: Great office setup, good benefits, and work with lots of very smart people.Cons: There is a lot of pressure to "conform" to their way of thinking as far as social issues. When there is an event that is in support of a "cause", it was expected that we participate (e.g., Pride parade, 5K walks). These all came from the very top. It's almost like a family; it would not be good to step out of line. Just smile and go with it, because the money and benefits are worth it.
- 3.0Friendly, Slow, AverageSoftware Engineer • Former EmployeeMarch 24, 2021Pros: Good work/life balance, friendly people.Cons: Slow moving, not innovative, average salaries.
