Pros
  • Used to have talented engineers to work with.
  • Used to be a fun place to hang out and discuss cool projects at lunches.
  • Used to have $50 meal perks.
  • I really enjoyed solving technical problems with substantial support from engineering platform teams.
Cons

Losing talent.

Lack of clarity from senior management in big initiatives to catch up with the competition.

Quality of engineers from outside of the US is uneven, making it hard for collaboration and moving the needle.

Projects were shifted around or removed in the middle of their work, often due to a lack of funding or measures of success.

Advice to Management

Management runs around and asks engineers to update their weekly/monthly reports to make them look good, without a fair understanding of actual results to business.
