Pros: I’ve really enjoyed working on Infrastructure and Platform at Harvey. Building AI infrastructure is challenging, fast-moving, and incredibly exciting. The scope and complexity of problems are much larger than what I’ve experienced at other companies, and there is a real opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Pros * High ownership and scope: The scope of engineering work is exceptionally high, often exceeding what you would find at many AI labs. Engineers have the opportunity to own critical systems and solve impactful problems. * Strong upside: If Harvey continues to execute well, there is significant financial upside from being part of a company at this stage. * Pioneer in Legal AI: Harvey is helping define the Legal AI space, which makes the work both exciting and meaningful. * Interesting technical problems: The infrastructure challenges are genuinely unique — building reliable, scalable systems around AI workloads is some of the most interesting work I’ve done. * Approachable technical leadership: The technical leadership team is one of Harvey’s biggest strengths. They are highly approachable, technically strong, and consistently make time to help engineers. They are actively involved in solving problems, providing guidance, and creating an environment where engineers can do their best work.

Cons: Cons Competition from foundation model companies: The AI landscape moves extremely quickly, and there is always pressure from foundation model companies to move up the stack. Continued differentiation will be important. Infrastructure maturity: The infra stack is still maturing. Some systems have grown quickly and accumulated technical debt, leading to reliability challenges. The good news is that technical leadership recognizes this and is actively working to improve the foundations.

Pros: Harvey is building real AI for professionals, not just another chatbot. The team is tackling genuinely hard problems in reasoning, retrieval, and domain-specific model alignment. Decisions are made quickly, projects move fast, and good ideas can ship to production quickly. If you like autonomy and impact, it’s one of the best environments around. Strong partnerships with various law firms, data management systems, and financial services position Harvey well to continue to push the boundaries of Applied AI.

Cons: Priorities can shift quickly as the company evolves and experiments. That’s energizing for some people, but can be stressful if you prefer stable, predictable workflows or long-term roadmaps. Because Harvey is still relatively small and growing fast, formalized processes around career growth, documentation, or people management are still being built out.

Pros: Harvey has been my favorite job I’ve ever had, and also one of the most challenging. The pace is fast, and the company’s ability to pivot quickly and execute in a rapidly changing AI landscape is impressive. The work is consistently interesting, and the people are a major highlight. There is a very high level of buy-in across the company, and working with people who care as much as you do is really motivating. I’m excited to come in every day and genuinely love the environment.

Cons: Planning can be inconsistent, and at times it can feel like plans become outdated almost as soon as they are made. Smaller projects can drag on longer than expected, while large, high priority projects may suddenly become all hands on deck efforts with scope evolving as it is built. Customer expectations are high, and there is real pressure to deliver quickly without making mistakes.
