Senior Frontend Developer Interview Experience - Montreal, Quebec

Process

I first got a call from their HR contact. There was a brief chat, and she said she'd schedule an interview with their Hiring Manager for the following week.

The payscale mentioned was way above market rate for Canada. That's how they get your interest; watch out.

An hour before the scheduled interview, they emailed to say the Hiring Manager felt sick and asked if we could reschedule. I said fine.

A few days later, there was a 45-minute Zoom call with the Hiring Manager. Very informal stuff – mutual introductions and only one direct question:

"Can you tell me about a time when you had difficulty with a senior member of the team and how you dealt with it?"

He explained the pros and cons of Ember and answered any questions. He said that the next stage was a four-part interview process called "the loop," where my technical skills would be assessed.

I asked if I could do the code review or pair programming sessions first, if possible. He said he would ask.

The next week, I received an email saying that:

"the role you were interviewing for was recently filled by another candidate."

I think they are just looking for Ember devs for this product and are having a hard time finding any. But if that is the case, they should not be fielding interviews for React/Vue devs, etc.

The reviews here are true – they just waste your time. I would not recommend interviewing here. That would be a frustrating email to receive after finishing all four technical interviews.
