Interviewers beware, prepare to be strung along and duped at the last moment.
I was told I passed all my interviews with strong feedback, passed all my reference checks (which, what company asks for real reference checks in this day and age?), and had multiple meetings with managers for team placement. I even had a call scheduled with my recruiter to go over offer details.
And then, lo and behold, the morning of, she cancels the call with little warning and then doesn’t give me any update until I reach out first. She then proceeds to tell me, "Apparently, leadership does not have full confidence in my 'full picture,' and they will not actually be giving me an offer."
So be aware that you can do everything right and you won’t be told that you also have to pass some mysterious leadership vibe check, or just be blatantly lied to and the offer will never actually manifest. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually decided to go with an internal candidate or something.
