Pros: HubSpot is renowned for its culture. The great reviews on here may seem somewhat forced, but they're truly evidence of years of hard work by an amazing People Ops team led by Katie Burke. I was skeptical coming in that it would not live up to its hype, but I've been very surprised that even during Covid-19 and the subsequent shift in our working environment, I still feel excited and happy to "come in" to work every day. I feel like my work is valued, and I feel like my time is respected (my hours are flexible and I don't feel forced to work when it isn't necessary). I'm working with some amazing people and I can't wait to see what the next few years are like!

Cons: Onboarding was a bit difficult during Covid-19, and I was disappointed by it. I didn't feel like it necessarily helped prepare me for the job, and it was more focused on Marketing & Sales values and concepts rather than the granular parts of the company (i.e., engineering, finance, etc.).

Pros: The culture. I fully admit to drinking the Kool-Aid, but darn, it's tasty and refreshing. "Use good judgment" really does cover most of our policies here. It's empowering and simultaneously encourages employees to really think about their actions. The people. They're smart, motivated, humble, and overall a great group. I joined HubSpot over two years ago with the promise of learning more than I had at any previous job, and I am still learning a ton. The perks. They keep getting better and better.

Cons: I feel disconnected from the non-engineering parts of the company. Within engineering, things can be quirky/dysfunctional. If you can't adapt to the kind of weird ways we work (or have the moxie to effect the change you want to see), then you will not last long.

Pros: It used to be a good company until the layoff.

Cons: In 2022, they said they were not going to lay off anybody. The finances looked good. Then they laid off 7% of their workforce in 2023. 2024 arrived, and the company morale was at its lowest. They said, "There won't be another layoff." Then they laid off a bunch of UX Designers, and Katie Burke and a bunch of HR people around her left. I bet the company told her to leave, or something happened.
