I was initially contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn after they reviewed my GitHub and past work. The process began with a typical phone screening, including questions like "Why HubSpot?" At the end of the call, I was sent a link to a HackerRank coding test. The first question was fairly simple, while the second was complex. Despite not being at my best and not fully completing the second question, I was invited for an onsite interview.

The onsite interview included meeting my recruiter, who led a tour and answered any questions I had about the company. The following two interviews felt more like discussions than tests, making them extremely casual and enjoyable.

One interview focused on a typical algorithm question with new constraints added throughout the discussion, which I answered in JavaScript. I also fielded general situational questions related to my experience.

My background is in front-end development, so my second interview was more hands-on. It involved a mockup and some boilerplate code. The task was to add specific functionality and style the bare HTML, with access to any necessary documentation.

Compared to previous interviews where I was asked a series of questions about JavaScript closures and prototypal inheritance, I found this format AMAZING and much more realistic to actual work. Overall, it was a really great interview format.

The interview concluded with my recruiter asking about my overall experience and if there were any areas for improvement. Their dedication to continuous improvement really shone through.

Overall, I got the impression that people were extremely happy to be there, passionate about their work, and that self-improvement is a core value.
