After I applied online, I was sent an email with a coding challenge. The challenge was as other people have described here.
I was given a week to start it and 3 hours to complete it, but I think that they put a lot of emphasis on how long it takes to complete. I finished it in under an hour, and my recruiter emailed me letting me know that he wanted to move forward with me.
I set up a phone call with my recruiter, and it was basically a quick ~30 minute phone screening with basic questions. He allowed me to ask several questions about the position (no preparation was needed for this call).
A couple days later, I was asked to come for an on-site interview, for which they flew me to Boston.
The interview process consisted of two 1-hour long conversations with engineers. They each asked a technical question, but it was more like a conversation than an interview, which I really enjoyed.
The hiring process was the fastest that I've ever experienced. Responses were very timely, and each phase of the interview had little delay in communication.
A design question, like what other people here say.
A live coding question in whatever language you're comfortable with.
