Pros: Great place to work to showcase your talent, learn, mentor, and a ton of opportunities to deliver as a team to create many successful stories. From my experience, it's certainly a joy ride to work at IBM. Just be limitless and don't be shy extending a hand or asking for any help.

Cons: You could be lost if you keep extending a hand to help others, as you'll be pulled in many directions. Focusing on your deliverables and work-life balance is key; otherwise, you're lost in the Pacific Ocean.

This is not a good place to work in the long run

Advisory Software Engineer • Current Employee

Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

Pros: It was a good place to work when I first started in 1998. They used to pay for tuition reimbursement and provide professional classes every year. The bonuses were good, and it was a good environment to work in.

Cons: With the recent job cuts, morale for US employees has gone down. The goal is to get US-based employees below 100K and increase the headcount in India, which is already above 90K. Most employees work way too much overtime, and most are stressed out. Many people are worried about losing their jobs. There is no work-life balance at IBM. Most people work from home. Most managers are not qualified to be managers and lack the education or certification in management.
