Process

The onsite interview was set up via a phone call.

The reception staff were not friendly at all.

After a 20-minute wait, two individuals, a manager and a developer, appeared. The interview started with the common "a number and an array and binary search" question. One person interacted, while the other remained silent.

Questions

The question was not difficult. In fact, they asked the same question of almost every interviewee.

Question: Given a number N and an array Arr[], find two numbers which sum up to N. When would you suggest binary search for this problem? They will ask about the complexity difference between a two-nested-loop solution and a binary search solution.

After discussion of the algorithm/solution, they will ask you to write down the code on paper.

Both interviewers looked of Chinese origin. Only the manager was involved in the discussion and asked questions. The other one remained silent. He seemed shy and asocial, but was not a psychologist. Perhaps he was hired based on his extraordinary technical skills or strong internal (possibly Chinese) connections.

The whole interview lasted for an hour.
