Relaxed work environment with flexible scheduling.
Variety of work and opportunities is tremendous.
IBM also provides a means for changing between jobs within the company and allows you to shadow other jobs to see if a different position would be right for you.
Good benefits package.
Great discount program.
Big corporation bureaucracy. You see a lot of the "red tape" that is typically associated with companies of this size. Everyone complains about the lack of raises and promotions, which is standard with what I've seen at other large companies; there's only so much money to go around.
Beware of losing people to other companies. The standard motto in the industry is "The easiest way to get a raise is to change companies." As a result, a lot of talented engineers will leave for other opportunities.
I am a longtime employee and have no knowledge of the current interview practices.
Interviewed with managers and engineers in and out of the team. People are really nice there. Friendly working environment. Interviews are relatively short (30 minutes per interview). Waited for a month and still pending results.
Two easy LeetCode questions were asked. The first one was to reverse a string. The second was to write a string tokenizer. Also, simple, surface-level technical questions related to my resume were asked.
