Pros

Access to leading-edge technologies.

Work with highly skilled and intelligent people.

Cons

Expectations are unrealistic. Only the most exceptional people are rewarded or promoted. If you are promoted, you are expected to do much more. Worse, no one will coach you through a transition to help you succeed after a promotion. The average performer will eventually be cast off during an annual "resource action". This leads to poor morale and causes many valuable people leaving for better opportunities.

Advice to Management

Learn how to nurture your employees to be able to retain great people instead of letting them leave.
