When I passed the selection process to join IBM, I was very happy to be part of a Big Tech company. Having a company like that on my resume would be excellent. Unfortunately, it wasn't like that.
The first few weeks were very turbulent. I was assigned to a completely disorganized project. As a developer, I was frustrated to see how a company of this size is so careless with software quality. However, the worst thing here is not that, but the management.
The managers here know nothing about the project they are working on, and they suck the developer's life out to the maximum. The 9 hours they require in the contract are not enough. They want holidays and especially weekends.
I have already worked many overtime hours and lost weekends working on bugs. And if by chance you refuse, they look at you unfavorably. Everything you do here is monitored by your leader. On the project I'm working on, my leader asks me every hour what I'm doing. And the worst is when they want you to be stuck in a virtual room just to see what you're doing. The pressure is enormous.
It doesn't matter if you are a junior or an intern, you have to solve what they asked you to do. I have already witnessed abuses by leaders against colleagues. Delivery deadlines that are totally unrealistic, calls and messages on my personal cell phone at 10 PM asking me to solve problems...
Despite all this, I managed to stand out in the team through my work and with the help of good friends I made here. But this is not enough to continue. Therefore, I do not recommend anyone to come here.
